Pecos Bill es una de las figuras míticas más representativas del vaquero estadounidense. Fue inventado por el escritor Edward J. O'Reilly en 1923.
Se dice que vivió cerca de la frontera con México. Desde la creación de la leyenda, se ha visto idealizado como el mejor vaquero del Oeste de los Estados Unidos. Cuenta la leyenda que yendo en una diligencia a muy corta edad, se cayó de la misma, fue encontrado por una familia de coyotes cerca del llamado río Pecos (suroeste de Texas), creció y montado en su caballo hasta un tornado ahuyentó, así como se le atribuye que durante un periodo de sequía llevó lluvia desde California hasta Texas, formando con esto, el Golfo de México.
En el Año de 1948, en la película Ritmo y Melodía de los Estudios Disney, se le brindó un corto animado, en el que Roy Rogers interpreta la famosa canción que relata la vida de este vaquero. Este tema musical fue también interpretado en español por Luis Aguilé como canción infantil. Más tarde fue popularizada por el payaso mexicano Cepillín.

Roberto Carlos compôs sozinho sucessos como "Como É Grande O Meu Amor Por Você", "Por Isso Corro Demais", "Quando" e "De Que Vale Tudo Isso", que seriam lançados no LP "Roberto Carlos Em Ritmo de Aventura", trilha sonora do filme homônimo, lançado no ano seguinte, e que teve produção e direção de Roberto Farias e elenco com José Lewgoy e Reginaldo Farias. O filme tornou-se um grande sucesso de bilheteria do cinema nacional. A relação entre Erasmo e Roberto Carlos voltaria ao normal por causa de "Em Ritmo de Aventura". Envolvido com diversos compromissos profissionais, Roberto não conseguia finalizar a letra da canção de "Eu Sou Terrível", que seria a faixa inicial da trilha sonora do longa-metragem. Então, ele pediu auxílio ao velho parceiro Erasmo Carlos, que o ajudou a finalizar a letra. Assim, a amizade e a parceria dos dois foram retomadas.
