THE SHORT FILM
Director: Jim Yukich
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California
Michael Jackson's short film for "Liberian Girl" was the eighth of nine short films produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. While "Liberian Girl" was not released as a single in the United States, it was released as a single internationally and reached the Top 20 in five countries throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Ireland (where it reached No. 1). In the United Kingdom, "Liberian Girl" was Michael's ninth Top 40 single from Bad, a record for one album.
The song's humorous short film starts with black and white footage of an African port town, before a transition to color, where a production assistant's clapboard reveals the "town" is a soundstage. On that set, dozens of Michael's friends and collaborators make small talk, joke and wait around with one question on their minds: where is Michael? At the short film's conclusion, when everyone converges on the set, it is revealed that Michael was behind the camera the whole time, laughing as he descends from a camera crane and saying, "Okay everyone, that's a wrap!"
Three dozen actors, musicians and celebrities can be seen in the short film, including Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Paula Abdul, Whoopi Goldberg, Bad producer Quincy Jones, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John (making their first on-screen appearance together since 1978's Grease), Steven Spielberg, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Suzanne Somers, Lou Ferrigno, Don King, illusionist David Copperfield, Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Glover and Dan Aykroyd. During the video, a mysterious person wearing bandages can be spotted; in the short film's end credits, he is credited simply as "?"

THE SHORT FILM
Director: Martin Scorsese
Primary Production Location: New York City, New York
Michael Jackson's short film for "Bad" was the first of nine short films produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. The "Bad" single hit No. 1 in three countries in 1987, topping the charts in the United States, Spain and the Netherlands and reaching Top 5 in the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia and elsewhere. In the U.S., "Bad" was the second of five consecutive No. 1 singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100-making Michael the first artist to achieve this milestone.
Inspired by the real-life story of Edmund Perry, a prep school graduate from Harlem whose shooting death by a plainclothes policeman galvanized New York City, "Bad" stars Michael as Darryl, a student returning to his inner-city home while on break from a prestigious academy. In the short film's extended black and white sequence, Darryl comes into conflict with his neighborhood friends (led by actor Wesley Snipes in a breakthrough role) after showing discomfort over their attempts at petty crime. Angrily dismissed by his friends for no longer being "bad," Darryl challenges them in an abandoned subway station. As the film suddenly transitions to color, Darryl, clad in the black leather outfit Michael wears on the Bad album sleeve, leads a troupe of dancers in a high energy performance of "Bad," asserting his toughness without resorting to violence and ultimately earning the respect of his peers.

THE SHORT FILM
Director: David Fincher
Michael Jackson’s short film for “Who Is It” was the seventh of nine short films produced for recordings from Dangerous, Michael’s fourth album as an adult solo performer. As a single, “Who Is It” reached the Top 10 in nine countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and Germany. In the United States, the song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs and Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales charts.
The “Who Is It” short film was directed by David Fincher, a Grammy and MTV Video Music Award-winning director who has since directed Oscar-nominated feature films including Se7en, Fight Club and The Social Network. Fincher’s dark, expressionistic visual style complements the tone of “Who Is It.” In the short film, Michael sings of heartbreak over a lover, while the woman he sings about changes costumes and identities for her work as a high-class call girl. Michael leaves town and her at the end of the short film, and his assistant hands her the calling cards she offered her clients, making sure she realizes that Michael found out about her infidelity.

"Human Nature" is an R&B song by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was written by Steve Porcaro and John Bettis, and produced by Quincy Jones for the singer's sixth solo album, Thriller (1982). Initially, Porcaro had recorded a rough demo of the song on a cassette, which was then given to Jones. Enjoying the demo, Jones had the ballad included on the Thriller album. The song was the last selected for the album, ousting "Carousel" from the final track listing.
"Human Nature" was released on July 3, 1983, as the album's fifth single. Although not released in the UK, the song achieved moderate chart success in the US. Reaching number two on Billboard's Hot Adult Contemporary chart and number seven on the Hot 100, the song became Jackson's fifth Top 10 hit from Thriller. In New Zealand the single reached number 11. The ballad garnered many positive reviews from music critics. "Human Nature" has been covered and sampled by numerous artists, including Miles Davis, SWV, Nas, Jason Nevins and Boyz II Men.

Michael Jackson's short film for "Leave Me Alone" was the seventh of nine short films produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. While "Leave Me Alone," exclusive to the CD edition of Bad, was not released as a single in the United States, it reached the Top 10 in eight countries throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Norway and Ireland (where it reached No. 1).
"Leave Me Alone" was the first of Michael's songs to directly comment on the media frenzy that often surrounded him. "The price of fame can be a heavy one," he wrote in his 1988 memoir Moonwalk. "Consider that you really have no privacy. You can't really do anything unless special arrangements are made. The media prints whatever you say. They report whatever you do.I think my image gets distorted in the public's mind. They don't get a clear or full picture of what I'm like."
The "Leave Me Alone" short film features images of Michael singing from the fronts of various tabloids and newspapers, before Michael travels by rocket ship through a surreal amusement park built around a giant Michael tied down like Gulliver in the classic book Gulliver's Travels. We follow Michael as he guides the rocket through various send-ups of press reports from his life and career, including a shrine to actress Elizabeth Taylor and even the bones of Joseph Merrick, the "Elephant Man," who Michael dances with toward the end of the short film.
Along the way, he picks up his pet chimpanzee, Bubbles, and his boa constrictor, Muscles, and is "hounded" by members of the press, represented as dogs superimposed onto human bodies. At the end of the short film, a giant Michael emerges from the center of the amusement park, breaking free of the roller coaster tracks and other diversions that were built upon him.

Michael Jackson's short film for "Black or White" was the first of nine short films produced for recordings from Dangerous, Michael's fourth album as an adult solo performer. As a single, "Black or White" was an international sensation, topping the charts in 20 countries in 1991 and 1992, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
"Black or White" was certified Gold and Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on January 6, 1992. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance - Male in 1993. Both "Black or White" and its follow-up "Remember the Time" received BMI Urban Awards in 1993 for being two of the most performed songs of the year.
The ambitious "Black or White" short film again found Michael pushing the boundaries of the "music video" as art form. (This edited version of the short film was created for mainstream airtime after controversy arose over the final "panther sequence.")
An extended prologue stars Macaulay Culkin as a boy whose father (George Wendt) is angered by the playing of loud rock music after bedtime. After being admonished for "wasting your time with this garbage," Culkin vengefully plugs a guitar into an enormous speaker, blasting his father out of the house and across the globe, still sitting in his easy chair.

THE SHORT FILM
Director: Will Vinton
Michael Jackson's short film for ""Speed Demon"" was the ninth and final short film produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. ""Speed Demon"" was released as a promotional single in the United States, the 10th of 11 songs from the album to earn a single release-an unprecedented achievement.
The ""Speed Demon"" short film, released as part of Michael's feature-length film Moonwalker in 1989 and featuring the groundbreaking ""Claymation"" of Will Vinton (who also worked with Michael in a Claymation ad for the California Raisins), was another humorous take on the media attention Michael was receiving at the time and Michael's attempts to escape the attention ""in disguise"" - wearing a Claymation rabbit head. The short film features a number of Claymation characters, including cameos by The Noid, the Vinton-created spokesperson for Domino's Pizza, as well as caricatures of celebrities like Sylvester Stallone, Tina Turner and Pee-wee Herman and featuring ""Spike,"" a man-sized Claymation rabbit who magically comes to life and engages in a dance-off with Michael after he changes out of the Spike costume.
The dance-off is stopped by a motorcycle cop writing a ticket for Michael dancing in a ""No Dancing"" zone-ironically getting the ""autograph"" that the others had sought. As Michael mounts the motorcycle to leave, he smiles as a distant rock formation turns into the winking face of Spike.
The short film for Michael Jackson's ""Smooth Criminal"" was the centerpiece of the feature film Moonwalker, and featured the debut of Michael's iconic ""anti-gravity lean."" Inspired in part by Fred Astaire's ""Girl Hunt Ballet"" dance number in the film The Band Wagon, ""Smooth Criminal"" was named Best Video at the BRIT Awards, Broadcast Film Critics Association and the People's Choice Awards.

THE SHORT FILM
Director: Patrick T. Kelly
Primary Production Location: Wembley Stadium, London, England
Michael Jackson's short film for "Another Part of Me" was the fifth of nine short films produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. The "Another Part of Me" single hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart in the United States and reached the Top 10 in Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. In the U.S., "Another Part of Me" also reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The "Another Part of Me" short film is a live concert film recorded on Michael's Bad World Tour in the summer of 1988, as the tour made its way through Europe following a successful run through the United States in the winter and spring of that year. The short film captures the sheer excitement of a live Michael Jackson performance, with fans cheering wildly as he sang and danced across the stage at Wembley Stadium, where he played for five consecutive sold-out nights before a crowd that included members of the Royal Family. The vibrant live band for the Bad World Tour included longtime collaborators Greg Phillinganes on keyboards, Jonathan "Sugarfoot" Moffett on drums and a group of background vocalists that included a young Sheryl Crow.
The Bad World Tour earned Michael awards and acclaim around the world. In 1988, the tour set four Guinness World Records for Most Successful Concert Series, Most Sold Out Shows At Wembley Stadium, Highest Grossing Tour by a Male Solo Artist and Largest Attendance of Audience. In 2011, NME named the Wembley shows one of "21 Seminal Gigs You'd Sell Your House to Have Seen," praising him for "moonwalk[ing] his way through three hours of generation-defining classics."
