There are few songs more quintessentially ’80s than Norwegian band A-ha’s “Take On Me.” It’s a synth-heavy power ballad accompanied by a high-concept music video, checking all the boxes that defined the pop music of the decade. When choosing the song for their cover, Brooklyn-based band Lake Street Dive ditched the decidedly ’80s feel of the song, infusing the song with a funky latin groove, elements of blue-eyed soul, and a fantastic trumpet solo. The result is one of our favorite covers of the season.

A origem do nome a-ha surgiu após Magne ter lido este termo num caderno de anotações de músicas e outras composições de Paul. Todos gostaram da idéia. A-ha performs their song “Scoundrel Days” at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. The band formed in 1982 and is most known for their major hit “Take On Me”, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in October 1985. A-ha has sold over 40 million albums and over 70 million singles. The band split in 2010, but re-united in 2015 and is performing five of their largest hits at this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Concert.
