Do pine cones have seeds?
“There are two different types of cones,” says Bruce Baldwin, professor of plant biology at University of California, Berkeley. “There’s seed cones and pollen cones. The pollen cones are relatively tiny. The seed cone gets to be much larger and takes three years to develop and release seeds so you can often see pine cones of three different stages of development on a single tree.”
Why do pine cones open and close?
Early in their development, the scales open slightly for a short time to grant access to wind-borne pollen released from smaller pollen cones. After receiving the pollen, the female cones close back up until the seeds are fertilized and mature. Once they are, the scales reopen allowing the wind to disperse the winged seeds.
What are the oldest living trees?
Conifers are some of the oldest plants in the forest. And they were once much more diverse than they are today. But since the evolution of flowering plants, their diversity has plummeted. Today only about 0.3 percent of all the species of seed plants have cones. Flowering plants have taken over most of the warmer, wetter habitats, pushing out the evergreen conifers.
What are the tallest living trees?
The tallest (coast redwood), most massive (giant sequoia) and oldest living (bristlecone pine) individual organisms is the world are all conifers.

Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes es un videojuego de aventura de acción y aventuras desarrollado por Avalanche Software y publicado por Disney Interactive Studios. El juego presenta trabajos adicionales de Studio Gobo y Ninja Theory.
Spider-Man (llamado Hombre Araña en muchas de las traducciones al español) es un personaje ficticio y un superhéroe que aparece en los libros e historietas publicados por Marvel Comics. Fue creado por Stan Lee y Steve Ditko. Su primera aparición fue en el número 15 de Amazing Fantasy en agosto de 1962. Lee y Ditko lo concibieron como un huérfano criado por su tío Ben y su tía May. Al ser adolescente, tiene que lidiar con todos los problemas típicos de un joven de su edad además de enfrentarse a los criminales con un disfraz rojo y azul. Entre sus superpoderes se encuentra una gran agilidad y flexibilidad, así como la capacidad de aferrarse a la mayoría de superficies. Además logró crear unos lanzatelarañas o lanzarredes. Otro de sus superpoderes principales es su «sentido arácnido» el cual le avisa cuando está en peligro o cuando el peligro se acerca.
Cuando Spider-Man apareció por primera vez en la década de 1960, los personajes adolescentes en los cómics no eran más que los ayudantes o los compañeros del héroe principal, como es el caso de Robin. Sin embargo a Stan y a Steve les desagradaba eso, así que optaron por hacer a su héroe principal un adolescente. Desde siempre su identidad secreta ha sido Peter Benjamin Parker, un estudiante adolescente de secundaria muy listo, que a menudo era víctima del abuso estudiantil, además de ser muy solitario. Esto se hizo con la intención de que los lectores jóvenes pudieran compadecerse más con el personaje.

65 million years ago, a large asteroid collided with Earth near present-day Chicxulub, Mexico. The impact was a climactic event that likely contributed to dinosaur extinction. Today, Earth remains vulnerable to asteroid collisions. In recent history, space rocks have landed in The United States, Russia, and elsewhere. In the event of a potential asteroid collision, NASA has developed several options for dealing with the threat. Researchers at NASA’s Center for Near Earth Object Studies and Jet Propulsion Laboratory have proposed using blunt force, weaponized deflection or a theoretical tool called a gravity tractor to deflect impact. In addition to developing contingency plans, NASA scientists are also searching the sky for future asteroid threats.
