En este vídeo, Esther Wojcicki, habla de cómo ha desarrollado su pasión por la educación.. "Me salvó. Crecí en unas condiciones que hoy podrían considerarse de 'pobreza'. A los 10 años, decidí que la forma de escapar de esa situación era a través de la educación.”

Wojciki nos habla de la importancia de las que para ella son las cuatro habilidades principales en educación: comunicación, colaboración, pensamiento crítico y creatividad y de la importancia de incluir la alfabetización mediática en el currículum escolar.

Periodista y profesora en Palo Alto High School (California, EEUU) durante más de 30 años, Esther Wojciki está considerada como una pionera mundial en el estudio de la alfabetización mediática aplicada a la educación. Desde 1984 dirige el programa más importante de educación mediática de EEUU. Junto a la creatividad, el pensamiento crítico y la colaboración, Wojciki reivindica la importancia de la comunicación como una de las principales habilidades que deben enseñarse en las escuelas para lograr un aprendizaje más significativo en el siglo XXI. Wojcicki es también un referente en la exploración de la relación entre educación y tecnología. Actualmente es vicepresidenta de la organización mundial de licencias Creative Commons y presidenta de la Fundación de amigos de Lurdes Mutola para la promoción de la educación de las niñas en Mozambique. Además, y entre otras posiciones, es consultora de la Fundación Carnegie para el Avance de la Enseñanza y colabora en diferentes medios de comunicación como la revista TIME. Pionera en la exploración de la relación entre educación y tecnología, Wojcicki apunta que “Necesitamos aprender a aprender en línea”, para quien la libertad del estudiante, la responsabilidad y el pensamiento crítico es la clave del futuro.

Jimmy Wales nos habla en este vídeo sobre su pasión por la educación y sobre cómo la tecnología ha impactado en los modelos de educación. Uno de los principales aspectos de ese impacto es la diferencia entre el aprendizaje formal e informal y cómo hoy en día las posibilidades de aprendizaje informal autónomo gracias a la tecnología son mayores que nunca. Según opina, "el sistema educativo tradicional sigue siendo muy importante, pero esto está cambiando muy deprisa. Sin embargo, se está produciendo un cambio muy radical en la calidad del aprendizaje informal". La tecnología permite que el aprendizaje de los seres humanos pueda ir más allá del colegio o la universidad, que puedan continuar con su aprendizaje después de esas etapas.

De Juan Antonio Madrid bien podría decirse que es un “relojero del sueño humano”, uno de los investigadores con mayor producción científica a nivel mundial en el campo de los “ritmos circadianos.” Actualmente dirige el Laboratorio de Cronobiología (Cronolab) de la Universidad de Murcia, una institución especializada en la investigación del reloj biológico y cómo sus alteraciones impactan en la salud de las personas. Cronolab forma parte de la Red de Envejecimiento (RETICEF, Instituto Carlos III), una alianza integradas por 8 hospitales del servicio público de salud.

Jane Goodall is considered one of the 20th Century’s most influential female scientists. Her eyes shine as she shares stories from her past, that become great life lessons about science and education for the present: "Be curious and make mistakes, be patient and do not give up," repeats this extraordinary woman.

Goodall had a dream during her early years: to travel from her native England to Africa to be close to the animals and write about them. In 1960, at the age of 23, the famous anthropologist Louis Leakey, entrusted her with the risky mission of traveling to the jungle in Gombe, Tanzania, becoming the first person to observe and investigate chimpanzees in the wild. Accompanied by her mother, she started a six-month research project. Today, almost 60 years later, she continues to develop thanks to the team of researchers at the Jane Goodall Institute, which is one of the longest lasting field research missions on animals in the wild. Her research revolutionized the scientific community and fascinated the whole world. Her perseverance, intuition, empathy and capacity for observation have not only allowed us to discover the unknown world of chimpanzees and other species, but also invite us to reflect upon ourselves, promoting a more sustainable lifestyle and building a fairer society.
