El profesor Jesús C. Guillén, astrofísico por la Universidad de Barcelona, profesor del posgrado de neuroeducación de la Universidad de Barcelona y autor del blog: Escuela con cerebro, concreta en el siguiente vídeo las funciones ejecutivas que inciden en el éxito de una persona en la vida; como el control inhibitorio, la memoria de trabajo para recordar la información y la flexibilidad cognitiva, e insiste en la importancia que tienen en la educación. “Las funciones ejecutivas nos diferencian de otras especies, nos permiten planificar y tomar decisiones adecuadas” sostiene el investigador”.

El investigador señala las funciones ejecutivas que influyen en el éxito de una persona en la vida, como la memoria de trabajo para recordar la información y la flexibilidad cognitiva, e insiste en la importancia que tienen en la educación. “Las funciones ejecutivas nos diferencian de otras especies, nos permiten planificar y tomar decisiones adecuadas”.

Para Guillén, la neuroeducación supone un avance biológico al estar relacionada con las metodologías de aprendizaje activo que fomentan el desarrollo de diversas competencias para la vida. Esto es posible gracias a la plasticidad de nuestro cerebro. "No decimos que el aprendizaje de las matemáticas o la lectura no sean importantes, pero deberían compartir protagonismo con otras disciplinas como la educación física, la educación artística y la educación emocional." Concluye el investigador.

Michael Sandel reflexiona en este vídeo sobre educación cívica y sobre cómo conectar la filosofía con nuestras vidas contemporáneas. "La educación ha de capacitar a los jóvenes para razonar y para debatir como ciudadanos de una manera activa", asegura. Sandel apela al sistema político y a los medios de comunicación a hacer “un trabajo mejor”. Y analiza: “Yo creo que es necesario diseñar un sistema educativo que anime a los estudiantes a explorar, a averiguar quiénes son y cuáles deberían ser sus propósitos en la vida, y qué talentos deberían cultivar que no estén reflejados en los exámenes”.

Michael Sandel es profesor de Filosofía Política en la Universidad de Harvard y Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Ciencias Sociales 2018. Sus libros, entre los que destaca “Lo que el dinero no puede comprar: Los límites morales del mercado”, han sido traducidos a más de veinticinco idiomas. Los escritos de este filósofo estadounidense tratan sobre justicia, ética, democracia o mercados y relacionan la filosofía política con las cuestiones morales y cívicas más desconcertantes de nuestro tiempo. El objetivo de Sandel es que la filosofía trascienda las aulas, por eso en la serie de la BBC "The Global Philosopher", lidera las discusiones en video con participantes de más de 30 países sobre los aspectos éticos de temas como la inmigración o el cambio climático.

Among other awards, in 2015 she received the Princess of Asturias Award for international cooperation for her contribution to the promotion and dissemination of knowledge to humanity. Jimmy Wales is passionate about education, especially about the possibilities that informal learning currently offers for the education of people. Carol Dweck is a lecturer in Psychology at Standford University and one of the main researchers and international referents in Education because of her pioneer ideas about mindset, motivation and development. Dweck is the creator of two concepts: fixed mindset, people who believe that intelligence is a born ability and it is unchangeable; and growth mindset, those who think that their skills can improve thanks to the instruction and effort.

In the following video, Dweck explains that it is of “vital importance that our children learn with a growth mindset in the current world where we need that children love challenges and uncertainty and that they do not feel overwhelmed”.
