En este vídeo, el cardiólogo Valentín Fuster plantea ocho claves para vivir mejor. "Existen cuatro 'T' que reflejan cómo uno madura personalmente: tiempo de reflexión, transmitir positividad, talento y tutoría. Y tenemos cuatro 'A', que describen cómo uno se muestra ante el mundo: actitud, aceptación, autenticidad y altruismo", explica.


El doctor Valentín Fuster es internacionalmente reconocido como uno de los médicos y promotores de la educación de la salud más prestigiosos del mundo. Actualmente es Director del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) en España y director del Instituto Cardiovascular del hospital Mount Sinai de Nueva York (Estados Unidos). Sus investigaciones sobre el origen del infarto de miocardio le valieron el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de Investigación.

La misión del doctor Valentín Fuster es integrar la investigación con la promoción de la salud a través de la educación. En este sentido destaca su participación en proyectos de divulgación de la salud para niños y jóvenes como presidente de la Fundación Internacional SHE (Sciencie, Health and Education) y asesor científico en la serie infantil Barrio Sésamo, entre otros.

El profesor Francisco Mora explica en el siguiente vídeo la importancia del cerebro humano en la enseñanza y la forma de aprender. “Está naciendo una nueva cultura, la cultura “neuro”, que significa que la esencia del ser humano, lo que aprende y memoriza, es producto del funcionamiento del cerebro. Intentar enseñar sin conocer cómo funciona el cerebro será algo así como diseñar un guante sin nunca antes haber visto una mano”, sostiene Mora.

El neuroeducador aporta herramientas y claves básicas para motivar a los estudiantes en el aula. “Hay que hablar menos de la atención y más de la motivación”, afirma. Y para ello propone el uso educativo de la curiosidad y el cambio en el formato de clases interminables. “Cada 10 o 15 minutos hay que romper el discurso en clase contando una anécdota o un chiste, porque hay episodios atencionales”, defiende.

“El ajedrez puede ser un juego divertidísimo, un deporte de élite, e incluso puede ser una forma de arte”. Pero para Leontxo García, periodista especializado en ajedrez desde hace más de 30 años, lo más apasionante de éste deporte intelectual es su enorme valor como herramienta educativa. En este vídeo, Leontxo explica que el ajedrez “aporta innumerables habilidades que a los niños les servirán para el resto de su vida: pensamiento autocrítico, control del primer impulso, empatía, pensamiento flexible, estrategias, entre otras”. También asegura que “el ajedrez es el mejor gimnasio para la mente”, y aclara que estudios científicos recientes demuestran que jugar al ajedrez con frecuencia puede ayudar a frenar el envejecimiento cerebral.

Leontxo García es periodista especializado en ajedrez desde hace más de 30 años y ajedrecista desde los 14. En 1983 descubrió su vocación periodística y desde entonces ha dedicado todo su esfuerzo a la divulgación del ajedrez. Ha sido corresponsal, presentador de televisión, redactor y conferenciante en más de una veintena de países. Es también autor del libro ‘Ajedrez y Ciencia, pasiones mezcladas’, y en 2011 fue galardonado con la Medalla al Mérito Deportivo. En los últimos años ha centrado sus esfuerzos en llevar el ajedrez al ámbito educativo.

La historia de Luis Rojas-Marcos es el resultado del esfuerzo y de una enorme capacidad de superación. Fue un niño distraído, con problemas de aprendizaje, hiperactividad y fracaso escolar. Pero acabó siendo un avalado psiquiatra de fama internacional. Tras más de 40 años de trayectoria en Estados Unidos, sus trabajos de investigación y sus pioneras aportaciones en este campo le han llevado a convertirse en un referente para médicos, psiquiatras y psicólogos de todo el mundo.

Luis Rojas-Marcos es profesor de psiquiatría en la Universidad de Nueva York y miembro distinguido vitalicio de la Asociación Americana de Psiquiatría. En los años 90 fue el máximo responsable de los Servicios de Salud Mental, Alcoholismo y Drogodependencias de la ciudad de Nueva York. El 11 de septiembre de 2001 fue testigo de los atentados contra las Torres Gemelas, mientras ocupaba el cargo de presidente del sistema de hospitales públicos de la ciudad. Allí tuvo un papel fundamental en la creación de grupos de apoyo para los familiares de las víctimas. También es autor de numerosas obras de divulgación, en las que aborda temas como la importancia del optimismo, la relación entre el lenguaje y la felicidad, la superación de la adversidad y la autoestima.

En este vídeo la psicóloga Alicia Banderas explica las diferentes causas por las que los niños mienten. Según Banderas para evitar estas situaciones incómodas es fundamental promover la buena comunicación entre padres e hijos. Además asegura que padres y madres tendríamos que revisar si nuestra actitud ayuda a fomentar la sinceridad de nuestros hijos o les empuja a tener que ocultar o a mentir. Y añade: “los padres somos un ejemplo para nuestros hijos, hay un aprendizaje llamado vicario u observacional, los niños nos imitan”.

Alicia Banderas lleva más de 20 años trabajando con niños y adolescentes en proyectos de educación. Su contribución a la divulgación de la psicología en la sociedad ha sido reconocida durante tres ediciones consecutivas por el Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos de Madrid con galardones como el Premio de Periodismo de Televisión. Es autora de los libros, “Pequeños tiranos”, “Hijos felices” y “Niños sobreestimulados”.

En este vídeo, Gregorio Luri destaca la importancia de la lectura y la literatura como parte de la formación esencial de las personas desde la infancia. Según el filósofo y pedagogo, “aprender a leer es la tarea de una vida”. Y añade, “la lectura nos permite participar en el diálogo que mantienen entre sí las grandes mentes de nuestra cultura”. Gregorio Luri defiende que una buena lectura debe constituir, de vez en cuando, un reto para el lector, ya que esto le ayuda a mejorar su vocabulario y a hacer una reflexión más profunda sobre lo leído.

“Maestro de escuela” es el atributo que mejor define a Gregorio Luri. Obtuvo el Premio Extraordinario en la Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación y también en el Doctorado en Filosofía. Ha trabajado como maestro de primaria, como profesor de filosofía en bachillerato y como docente universitario. Trabaja como columnista en varios diarios y ha publicado más de una veintena de libros sobre filosofía, historia y educación.
