Michael Faraday created the first electric generator in 1831 using a coil of wire and a permanent magnet. When the magnet was moved relative to the coil, current was induced in the coil. A similar experiment can be performed with a copper tube and a magnet. Although copper is not magnetic, it is a conductor. As the magnet falls through the pipe, the magnetic field changes over different sections of the pipe. This induces swirling currents (called eddy currents), which create a magetic field that opposes the motion of the magnet. This means work must be done to move the magnet through the pipe. This work generates the electrical energy, which is then dissipated as thermal energy in the pipe. The same basic principle is used to generate electricity throughout the world: moving a magnet inside copper coils.

Como canadiense-australiano, siempre me he preguntado por qué Australia tiene tantos animales venenosos que pueden matarte, mientras que Canadá prácticamente no tiene ninguno. Pero no es solo en Australia, parece que todos los lugares hermosos y cálidos están malditos con especies nativas venenosas. ¿Dónde se encuentran los animales más venenosos del mundo?
Entonces, ¿por qué estas especies venenosas han evolucionado en los mejores destinos de vacaciones del mundo?
Pregunté a químicos, visité el zoológico, entrevisté a entomólogos y expertos en serpientes. Las respuestas que encontré fueron complicadas:
1. La mayoría de las especies venenosas son ectotermos, criaturas de sangre fría cuyas temperaturas internas se rigen por su entorno.
2. Esto significa que tienen períodos de actividad limitados, principalmente cuando están cálidos, y solo pueden usarse en ráfagas cortas de energía, por lo que generalmente son depredadores que se “sientan y esperan”. Esto puede explicar por qué han desarrollado veneno, más que los mamíferos o las aves.
3. También explica por qué hay más de estas especies en climas cálidos. Hay más de todas las especies en climas cálidos, pero esta tendencia es especialmente pronunciada para los ectotermos.
4. Entonces, hay un mayor número de especies venenosas en lugares cálidos, simplemente porque hay más especies en lugares cálidos. Los climas fríos también tienen criaturas venenosas, como las serpientes de cascabel de Canadá y las víboras europeas.
5. Pero la historia también tiene un papel que desempeñar. En Australia, no hubo serpientes hasta hace 20 millones de años cuando una serpiente venenosa llegó desde Asia, enviando especies venenosas a todos los rincones del continente. Más tarde, la llegada de las no venenosas han tenido un buen desempeño en los trópicos, pero no tanto en los climas más fríos de Australia, por lo que las especies venenosas todavía dominan allí. Kitaro (喜多郎 Kitarō), (nacido como Masanori Takahashi (高橋正則 Takahashi Masanori) el 4 de febrero de 1953, en Toyohashi, Prefectura de Aichi, Japón), es un músico, compositor y multiinstrumentista. Su nombre artístico le fue dado por sus amigos posteriormente, quienes lo sacaron de un personaje de una serie manga de la televisión japonesa llamado Kitarō, de GeGeGe no Kitarō. Es hijo de una familia de granjeros sintoístas.
Inspirado por la música del R&B de Otis Redding, aprendió por su cuenta a tocar la guitarra. A este respecto él señala que nunca tuvo una educación musical y que sólo aprendió a confiar en sus oídos y en sus sentimientos. Atribuye sus creaciones a una fuerza que está más allá de él. "Esta música no proviene de mi mente," señala. "Es del cielo, pasa a través de mi cuerpo y sale por mis dedos convirtiéndose en una composición. A veces me maravillo. Nunca practico. This time I'm testing two maxforlive devices in Ableton Live.
One of them allows transposing midi clips to the chord played in the keyboard, in the same way keyboard arrangers do. (This device has some latency, so chords must be played a bit earlier. The device has quanization to allow the chord played stay in time).
The main arpeggio and bass use this technique.
The other device holds the chord played in the keyboard until another chord is played and adds a root key note in key with the chord played. This device is used in the strings track.
