Brian Haus watches as the still air stirs into over 150 mph winds. The flat turquoise water suddenly churns a series of endless crashing waves of white frothy foam. Thankfully, Haus does not have to actually weather these powerful storms. Instead, he gets a close view from a safe distance at the Surge Structure Atmosphere Interaction Facility (or SUSTAIN Laboratory, for short). With a flip of a switch and a large diesel generator, the lab can concoct hurricanes on command in a box—a very large box stretching 75 feet long and 6.5 feet high—mimicking some of the most intense hurricanes that have ever been observed. By brewing these contained storms, Haus and his team can study the complex interactions between the air and the surface of the sea under extreme conditions, and use the information to improve intensity forecasting.

Camels are famous for adaptations that have allowed them to flourish where most other large mammals would perish. But their story begins over 40 million years ago in North America, and in an environment you’d never expect: a rainforest.

Join B1 and B2 in a compilation of full length animated episodes including all of your favourite friends - the Teddies and Rat-in-a hat. Let's go bananas!
Beach Carnival - It's Beach Carnival Day at Cuddlestown and Rat is determined to win a prize - no matter what sneaky tricks he has to use. The Bananas are on lifeguard duty to make sure everyone stays safe. Rat is determined to win at least one of the prizes on offer, but the Bananas always manage to come out on top.
The Holiday - The Teddies are too snotty to go on holiday, so the Bananas do their best to help them get better.
The Pie - Topsy’s having a 'Shake and Bake' party and the Bananas have made her favourite apple pie. But Pedro the pig loves apple pie too and when he sees it cooling on the Bananas' window sill, he can't resist having just a little taste. Before he knows it though, he's eaten the whole thing! Pedro tries replacing the apple pie with a mud pie but one taste and the Bananas know it's not the real thing. Now they have to find out who ate their pie and make another one in time for the party.
The Surprise - The Bananas arrive back home from a big holiday and decide to hold a party so they can see all their friends again and show them their photos. But when they go around town to issue the invitations, they discover that everyone’s too busy to listen to them. They're all preparing for the Cuddlestown Cake Competition. Not only that, but the competition is planned to take place at the same time as the Bananas' party - so no-one will be able to come. The Bananas are very disappointed but agree to go along to the cake competition instead. When they arrive at the competition though, they get a very big surprise!

Sonatas for piano with violin, Beethoven thought of them, and the early set of three Op. 12 does seem to look back towards the early Classical, even late-Baroque emphasis on the multi-voiced part to which the violin adds emphasis or decoration as required. But the genre matured with Beethoven, and by the time of the ‘Kreutzer’ he was composing a fullyfledged, pre-Romantic virtuoso journey for the combination, vast in breadth of expression and length. These works have always attracted great artists, but every generation must come to them afresh, and here are two superb musicians from Hungary to add their own approach: on ‘traditional’ rather than ‘period’ instruments but interpretatively untrammelled by one or another performing dogma.
Kristóf Baráti is one of the most exciting violinists of the younger generation. After winning several important prizes (top-3 prize winner of the Elizabeth Competition when he was 18 years old, first prize at the prestigious Paganini Competition in Moscow) he is building an international career, playing with important orchestras and conductors (Ivan Fischer, Charles Dutoit, Marek Janovski, Kurt Masur).
Klára Würtz needs little introduction to Brilliant Classics fans: her many recordings (Mozart, Schubert, Schumann) show an exceptional artist, with a natural musical instinct, effortless virtuosity and heart-warming charisma.

Composer: Ludwig van Beethoven
Artist: Alfred Brendel (piano)
For many collectors in the 1960s, the budget priced Vox Turnabout LPs of the Beethoven Sonatas and Concertos were a revelation, and introduced an amazing young talent to the public.
Alfred Brendel was born in 1931 in Wiesenberg, and won the Concorso Busoni in 1949. He studied with Edwin Fischer, Paul Baumgartner and Edward Steuermann. The Vox Beethoven recordings won the Grand Prix du Disque in 1965, and were praised by critics world-wide.
These early recordings illustrate clearly all the characteristics that would become a hallmark of Brendel’s playing. A refusal to fall back on ‘flashy’ bravura, and the intellectual rigour he brings to the Beethoven sonatas marked him out even in these early recordings as one of the very great pianists of the 20th century. Brendel retired from the musical scene in 2009 at the height of his powers, leaving a recorded legacy without parallel in the music of Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert.
Tracklist can be found in the description!
Big and boisterous, Spotigy and Buri appear to be standard 1-year-old bulls. But a quick glance at their furry heads and closer examination of their genes would reveal that they're unique specimens—hornless Holsteins. The bulls are the result of a gene-editing experiment by Alison Van Eenennaam and colleagues at UC Davis, along with researchers at the biotech company Recombinetics, who aim to develop hornless cattle that might one day replace cows whose horns must be physical removed through expensive and painful methods. Van Eenennaam explains how the technique of "precision breeding" can be a faster and more effective means of de-horning cows compared to traditional breeding methods.
