Dr. Yuji Yamazaki, a host of the Physics in Collision 2009 conference, and Dr. Thomas Muller, who will host the conference in 2010, talk about PIC 2009 in Kobe, Japan.
Anxious for the safe arrival of the long-awaited vessel that would house the MicroBooNE particle detector, scientists Bonnie Fleming and Gina Rameika decide not to sit around and wait for it. Instead, they get in a car and head into neighboring towns to look for a big, school-bus-sized object being hauled by a truck.
In 1967, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory began to grow on the Illinois prairie, forty miles west of Chicago. Through the intelligence, ingenuity and commitment of many people, it grew into one of the world’s great research institutions—a truly international resource for physicists from around the world. In this hour-long presentation, Dr. Chris Quigg, who’s worked at Fermilab since 1974, traces the lab’s evolution from start-up to world-leading research center, highlighting landmark discoveries while recalling iconic moments and extraordinary characters. The presentation was given in Fermilab’s Ramsey Auditorium on Jan. 27, 2017, as part of Fermilab’s 50-year anniversary activities.
Adrienne Kolb, former Fermilab archivist and historian, came to live at the laboratory in 1983 with her husband, their three children and their dog. On-site country living included frequent science conferences, regular encounters with wildlife and lively, neighborly gatherings.
Scientists Rocky Kolb and Mike Turner recount the time they first proposed that Fermilab – dedicated to the study of the universe's smallest constituents — expand its program to include the stars, galaxies and the cosmos.
Collaboration members for the NOvA neutrino experiment held public tours of the future site of the NOvA detector facility the weekend of Minnesota's annual Governor's Fishing Opener. Aside from proximity of the site to the opener, held on Lake Kabetogama, does the experiment have anything to do with fishing? Maybe. Fishing guide Frank House and physicist Mark Messier explain. This 3-D display shows particle tracks recorded by ProtoDUNE. The video shows the full size of the single-phase ProtoDUNE detector (white box) and the direction of the particle beam (yellow arrow). Particles from other sources (such as cosmic rays) can be seen throughout the white box, while the red box highlights the region of interest: in this case, an interaction resulting from the particle beam passing through the detector. Event information, such as the momentum of particles in the beam and time of interaction, are located in the lower left corner. A selection of 3-D events from ProtoDUNE-SP are available in an online gallery developed by Chao Zhang of Brookhaven National Laboratory (https://www.phy.bnl.gov/twiste....r/bee/set/protodune/ for curious minds that want to play with the interface.

Why I Love Neutrinos is a series spotlighting those mysterious, abundant, ghostly particles that are all around us. This installment features Sowjanya Gollapinni, postdoc at Fermilab. For more information on neutrinos, visit the Fermilab website at http://www.fnal.gov.
The impending restart of the LHC at CERN has everyone excited. In this parody of Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake’s classic #Hashtag video, two US LHC scientists have a Twitter conversation that gives you a sense of what’s going on. It’s going to be totally awesome!
On January 9, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Secretary Rick Perry visited Fermilab and discussed accelerator technology development, neutrino research, quantum computing, and a host of other activities that the lab pursues. He concluded his trip by delivering remarks to Fermilab staff in the packed Ramsey Auditorium and answering audience questions.

Hey!!! There's More Stuff Down Here!... ↓
About this video...
So you've got that new awesome Camera. So...how the heck do you set it up for video?
NOTE: This episode assumes you are going to use a video editor or After Effects or something to do the color correction YOURSELF. If you're just shooting and uploading, your video will look bland. If you're doing the color correction yourself, your video will look ridiculously AWESOME! :)

I take a look at the Saramonic Mix Mic Audio System. BUT FIRST, in PART 1 of this review, I check the first point of failure - the shotgun mic included with this system. If that doesn't work, then the system is worthless. So I UNFAIRLY compare the included Saramonic SR-NV5 to my favorite mic of all time - the $700 Rode NTG-3. Links below...
