Karl Jenkins, the classically trained master of global crossover, has composed a new work for choir and orchestra, Stella Natalis, as a gift to music lovers of all stylistic and spiritual backgrounds for the 2009 holiday season. Its coupling, Joy to the world, features arrangements by Jenkins of carols from around the globe in keeping with the composers inclusive and universal approach to the message of music.

Osternachtsmesse in der St. Afra Kirche Meißen

Zur diesjährigen Osternachtsmesse in der St. Afra Kirche erklingt das 2012 vom walisischen Komponisten Karl Jenkins geschaffene Werk „The Peacemakers" -- zu deutsch: Die Friedensstifter.

Karl Jenkins, inzwischen der weltweit zumeist aufgeführteste lebende Komponist, verwendet als Leitgedanken in seinem Werk ein Zitat aus der Bibel (Matthäus 5,9): „Selig sind die Friedfertigen; denn sie werden Gottes Kinder heißen." Jesus selbst ist seinen gewaltfreien Weg bis zum Kreuz gegangen. Das Osterfest lädt ein, den Sieg seiner Friedensbotschaft über die Mächte des Todes zu feiern. Nach seinem großen Vorbild haben auch Friedensstifter wie Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Schweitzer gelebt und in der Welt unvergessliche Friedensspuren hinterlassen. Sie alle und weitere große Persönlichkeiten des Friedens lässt Karl Jenkins in seinem Werk zu Wort kommen und begleitet ihre Gedanken mit wunderbarer Musik.
Eine Zeile des persischen Dichters und Mystikers Rumi beschreibt treffend den ethischen Wert des Werkes: „Alle Religionen, alle singen ein Lied: FRIEDE SEI MIT DIR".

Adiemus by the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins played by the accordion orchestra "Akkordeana - Frankfurter Akkordeon-Orchester 1949 e. V." and conducted by Stefanie Hazenbiller.
Adiemus got very popular in the 90ths while being used as the music for the Delta Airline TV spot.

The video shows the orchestra at their last concert, at the Dr. Hoch's Konservatorium in Frankfurt, Germany.
