Valentín Fuster Carulla es internacionalmente reconocido como uno de los médicos y promotores de la educación de la salud más prestigiosos del mundo.
En este vídeo, ante las preguntas de familias, el Dr. Fuster muestra su lado más docente y la necesidad de la promoción de hábitos saludables. Además, comparte sus conocimientos para la mejora de la salud de la población, con especial énfasis en los niños y los jóvenes, y el despertar de vocaciones científicas. Actualmente es Director del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) en España y director del Instituto Cardiovascular del hospital Mount Sinai de Nueva York (Estados Unidos). Sus investigaciones sobre el origen del infarto de miocardio le valieron el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de Investigación. Entre los reconocimientos a su labor cabe destacar que el Dr. Fuster es el único cardiólogo que ha recibido los máximos galardones de investigación de las cuatro principales organizaciones internacionales de Cardiología.
La misión del Dr. Valentín Fuster es integrar la investigación con la promoción de la salud a través de la educación. En este sentido, destaca su participación en proyectos de divulgación de la salud para niños y jóvenes como presidente de la Fundación Internacional SHE (Sciencie, Health and Education) o asesor científico en la serie infantil Barrio Sésamo, entre otros. Es autor y coautor de títulos como La ciencia de la salud, Corazón y mente, Monstruos supersanos o La cocina de la salud. "El corazón sirve para dar cantidad de vida; el cerebro, calidad de vida". Con esta frase, el Dr Fuster resume su esperanza en la educación de la salud, y especialmente, en el cuidado de los factores de riesgo cardiovascular, como grandes palancas para el cambio y la mejora integral de la vida de las personas.
