Svetoglas - The Mystique of Bulgarian Polyphony©
Male acappella vocal quartet, gives rich depiction of the ancient Bulgarian folklore, and polyphonic works of Orthodox sacred music. They explore and introduce strange hymns unknown until now. They are masterpieces of Bulgarian monophonic music and its manifestations during the centuries. Members: Daniel Spassov, Stanimir Ivanov, Viktor Tomanov and Milen Ivanov.
Style: Bulgarian Folk music, Traditional Bulgarian Music, Bulgarian Folklore Legends, Bulgarian Polyphony, Bulgarian Voices

Solo verses:
Todo se pasa, Dios no se muda,
La paciencia todo lo alcanza.
En Cristo mi confianza,
y de Él solo mi asimiento;
No haya ningún cobarde,
aventuremos la vida.
No hay que temer, no durmáis,
aventuremos la vida.

Recording from the funeral of brother Roger, founder of Taizé Community, on 23 August 2005.
Song Confitemini Domino composed by Jacques Berthier.
Pope John Paul II with participants in the European meeting sponsored by the Taizé Community, St Peter's Basilica, Vatican, 31 December 1987.
Save us while we are awake, Lord, protect us wile we sleep. That awake we may keep watch with Christ and rest with him in peace.

Adoration of the Magi, stained glass, Strasbourg Cathedral
Peuple voici ton Roi ! Alléluia !
"God of love, it is you who bring us together. And we entrust to you those who are living in distress, in particular the people of Ukraine. Inspire them to find the way of peace and of justice." (Br. Alois, 19 February 2014)

Responsory from evening prayer in Taizé.
New song 2019 (no. 506)
Alleluia.
Your Word, Lord, does not die. It never dies because it is life itself. And life, Lord, does not only live, it gives life.

Réponds-moi! Kyrie eleison.
O my people, what have I done to you? In what have I wearied you? Answer me!
Popule meus, quid feci tibi? Aut in quo contristavi te? Responde mihi.

We’re continuing our exploration of conflict theories with W.E.B. Dubois, who is one of the founders of sociological thought more broadly and the founder of race-conflict theory. We’ll discuss shifting ideas about race, Dubois’ idea of ‘double-consciousness’, and the modern day field of racial identity. We’ll explore the idea racial formation and discuss Dubois’ survey of African Americans in Philadelphia to look at how economic, political, and social structures affect how we perceive different races – and vice versa. We’ll also discuss the activist side of Dubois’ life as co-founder of the NAACP and editor of the Crisis, and how modern day sociologists study racial politics and racial resistance.

It's the end of the world, everybody. Well, it's the end of our mythology series, anyway. This week, we're talking about how mythological themes have made their way into the English language. We're taking on the Herculean task of tracking down phrases that have made their way into language from mythical stories.

What puts the “science” in social science? Today we’ll explore positivist sociology and how sociologists use empirical evidence to explore questions about the social world. We’ll also introduce two alternatives: interpretative sociology and critical sociology.
