En este vídeo la neuróloga Frances Jensen analiza algunos hallazgos científicos. Define a los adolescentes como “máquinas de aprendizaje”, aunque matiza: “aprenden más rápido o memorizan mucho mejor que los adultos, pero su cerebro también puede aprender muy fácilmente cosas malas, como la adicción a las drogas”.

La neurocientífica Frances Jensen es jefa del departamento de Neurología de la Universidad de Pensilvania. Ha sido profesora de neurología en la Escuela de Medicina de Harvard, directora de neurociencia traslacional y directora de investigación sobre epilepsia en el Hospital de niños de Boston. En su último libro, “El cerebro adolescente”, Jensen recoge también su experiencia como madre de dos adolescentes. “Decidí escribirlo cuando me di cuenta de que tenía un experimento en casa”, asegura. Es una obra en la que recurre a la experiencia clínica y a las investigaciones recientes para demostrar que en la adolescencia el cerebro aún no ha alcanzado la madurez. Desde una posición única como neuróloga, profesora y madre, ofrece una mirada revolucionaria a la etapa adolescente, disipando mitos y ofreciendo consejos prácticos para jóvenes, padres y maestros.

El psicólogo, director de Instituto Psicológico Desconect@ y experto en adicciones a las nuevas tecnologías, Marc Masip, advierte de los peligros de la dependencia a las pantallas, que provocan problemas de sueño, de rendimiento académico y de socialización.

La propuesta de Masip pasa por la educación en el buen uso de las pantallas y pautas como “PIVE”: pensar, intuir, vivir y evaluar dónde y qué imágenes compartimos, cómo evitar que nos perjudiquen y de qué forma podemos aprovechar lo mejor de la tecnología en la nueva era digital.

En su libro ‘Desconecta’, Marc Masip plantea las bases de una “dieta digital” para superar nuestra elevada dependencia al móvil y mejorar nuestra relación con las pantallas.

"En Estados Unidos, el 40% de la sociedad se siente sola de forma crónica en algún momento de la vida. Inglaterra acaba de crear un Ministerio de la Soledad... No porque sean amantes de la neurociencia los del gobierno inglés, sino porque saben, tienen datos, tienen evidencia científica de que la soledad es muy frecuente y que produce problemas de salud que tienen un costo enorme para la sociedad".

En este vídeo, el neurocientífico Facundo Manes explica las claves para mantener en forma al cerebro, cómo surge la creatividad, el "momento eureka" y cómo aprendemos y olvidamos.


Facundo Manes ha dedicado gran parte de su trayectoria profesional a descifrar los secretos del cerebro, actividad que sigue desarrollando como investigador del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) de Argentina y del departamento Cognition and Brain Sciences de Cambridge.

“A mis hijos les digo: "Estudiá, porque además de que te va a permitir ser más libre y tener más oportunidades, cumplir tus sueños, levantar la autoestima, adaptarte a un mundo en permanente cambio... además de todo eso, va a proteger tu cerebro”, reflexiona el neurocientífico.

Fundador del Instituto de Neurología Congnitiva (INECO) y del Instituto de Neurociencias de de la Fundación Favaloro en Buenos Aires, el doctor Manes es autor de libros como ‘El cerebro del futuro’ y ‘Usar el cerebro’, donde explica el funcionamiento de nuestra materia gris.
