El tubo de Rubens es una demostración impresionante y aquí lo llevamos al siguiente nivel con un "Tablero de Fuego" bidimensional. Sobre este tablero podremos apreciar patrones únicos producidos por ondas estacionarias de sonido dentro de una caja.
Las variaciones de presión debidas a las ondas de sonido, afectan el caudal de gas inflamable que sale por los orificios del "Tablero de Fuego” y, por lo tanto, afectan la altura y el color de las llamas. Esto es interesante para ver patrones de ondas estacionarias y es aún más impresionante cuando reproducimos música.

If you've seen footage from the International Space Station or any of the space shuttle missions, you know that astronauts float around as they orbit the Earth. Why is that? Is it because the gravitational force on them is zero in space? (Or nearly zero?) The truth is that the strength of the gravitational attraction is only slightly less than it is on Earth's surface. So how are they able to float? Well, they aren't floating - they're falling, along with the space station. They don't crash into the Earth because they have a huge orbital velocity. So as they accelerate towards the Earth, the Earth curves away beneath them and they never get any closer. Since the astronauts have the same acceleration as the space station, they feel weightless. It's like being in a free-falling elevator (without the disastrous landing).

Una nueva investigación muestra que los camaleones controlan activamente sus nanocristales (cristales fotónicos ) para cambiar su color.

Esta investigación fue llevada a cabo por Jérémie Teyssier, Suzanne V. Saenko, Dirk van der Marel y Michel C. Milinkovitch en el Departamento de Física Cuántica de la Universidad de Ginebra y en el Laboratorio de Evolución Artificial y Natural (LANE).

¿Puedes averiguar cuál es la regla?
¿Cómo investigas las hipótesis?
¿Tratas de confirmar tu teoría, buscando cisnes blancos?
Me sorprendió lo difícil que era para las personas averiguar conjuntos de números que no seguían sus hipótesis, incluso cuando su método no los estaba llevando a ninguna parte.
El "Sesgo de Confirmación" es esta tendencia a favorecer y buscar la información que nos reasegura y reconfirma en nuestras desiciones, descartando la evidencia en contra, dándonos menos posibilidad de considerar otras alternativas.
En el video digo “cuando se descubrió Australia ..." a lo que me refiero es, "cuando los europeos que creían que todos los cisnes eran blancos vinieron a Australia …”. No quise ofender a los pueblos originarios que ya estaban en Australia en ese momento. Por favor, acepten mis disculpas por esta frase si alguien se ofendió por ello.

In Sydney, ice melts because it is warm out in the middle of the day (even in winter). This creates a layer of water on top that certainly makes it slippery. But should it be slippery at night or in a cold northern climate where the air temperature is below zero? Yes, because the pressure your skates apply to the ice actually lowers its melting point allowing you to glide along a thin layer of water.
