First UK concert from a-ha's farewell tour "ending on a high note"
a-ha is a Norwegian new wave band. The trio, composed of lead vocalist Morten Harket, guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy and keyboardist Magne Furuholmen, formed in 1982 and left Oslo, Norway for London in order to make a career in the music business.
The origin of the name a-ha comes from the lyric of an early song. After checking dictionaries in several languages, they found out that 'a-ha' was an international way of expressing recognition, with positive connotations
The pop hit Take On Me by A-ha has proven a worldwide phenomenon since its release in 1985 and has just hit a billion views on YouTube.
Now, the Norwegian group is touring Australia and sits down to talk about how the classic keyboard riff came to be and why the 80s were a "musical playground".

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin performing an acoustic version of the A-HA classic "Hunting high and low", originally released by the Norwegian band in 1985.
This performance is from the "Quart Festival" in Kristiansand, Norway, in July 2001. Possibly the earliest live recording of Coldplay doing this cover. At least on YouTube.
Originally recorded by myself from Norwegian TV, in 2001, onto a VHS cassette.
Credits to the now shut down TV-station "Metropol TV".

A Ha Scoundrel Days World Tour 86 87 PRO PAL
THIS ALONE IS LOVE (DEMO)
(Words: Pål Waaktaar)
(Music: Mags / Pål Waaktaar)
* 1983-84 Renvous studio demo. Note that the chorus main melody and chords were later used for "Scoundrel Days" on the SCOUNDREL DAYS album.
* Dialogue extracts from an unidentified movie soundtrack can be heard through the entire demo.
* Note: the part of the text that is colored in pink was used for the song "May The Last Dance Be Mine" on the Bridges album FAKKELTOG.
The part colored in green was used for the song "Every Mortal Night'" on the same album.
This alone is love
No small thing
This alone is love
That my love brings
And all of us
Who are travelling by trap-doors
Our souls are a myriad of wars
I'm losing everyone
It will make my last breath
Pass out at dawn... At dawn...
It will make my body
Dissolve out in the blue
Oh
And see...
That's just one of those feelings
It's free...
It's the end (... your wings?)
Across the sea
No small thing
This alone is love is love...
That my love brings
It will make my last breath
Pass out at dawn... At dawn...
It will make my body
Dissolve out in the blue
Oh
And see...
That's just one of those feelings
It's free...
It's the end (... your wings?)
Across the sea
See...
That's just one of those feelings
It's free...
It's the end (... your wings?)
Across the sea
That's just one of those feelings
Ohhh
It's free...
It's the end (... your wings?)
Across the sea

This is a cover version of the awesome song 'Scoundrel Days' by a-ha!
This song is kind of hard to play and sing perfectly at the same time so unfortenately I managed to screw things up in the middle of the song. Hehe. ;)
This happened several times and I got more and more frustrated.
Since my frustration got on tape, I decided to include it in this video to add some humour. ;)
Next time I will play it perfect and upload it again. :)
