“¿Qué beneficios tiene educar en casa y no en la escuela? Lo siento, no tengo respuesta para eso: yo no comparo métodos, porque el cambio no está en el método, sino en la actitud”. André Stern, hijo del pensador e investigador Arno Stern, no ha pisado un aula y sus hijos tampoco. Brillante escritor, músico, compositor y lutier, en este vídeo explica el concepto de la “ecología de la infancia”, que se basa en el respeto al potencial natural de los niños. Juego libre, entusiasmo y confianza son algunas de las claves que propone para dejar que los más pequeños aprendan por sí mismos.

Autor de libros como ‘Jugar’ y ‘Yo nunca fui a la escuela’, y director del Instituto Arno Stern y de la iniciativa ‘Hombres para mañana’, André Stern propone una filosofía educativa que respete la curiosidad y capacidades innatas de los niños, para permitir el desarrollo de su potencial y autoaprendizaje. “La neurociencia ha descubierto recientemente que el cerebro se desarrolla según el uso que le demos, pero cuando lo usamos con entusiasmo. Es extraordinario que la neurobiología nos dé la evidencia de lo que todo sabemos: el entusiasmo nos vuelve genios. Esa emoción hace crecer cada vez más nuestro conocimiento y, al final, somos extremadamente competentes. No intentemos introducir conceptos en nuestros hijos; veamos qué sale de ellos”, concluye.

Marcus du Sautoy es matemático y divulgador científico. Lidera la prestigiosa cátedra Charles Simonyi para el Entendimiento Público de la Ciencia en la Universidad de Oxford, donde también es profesor de matemáticas. Ha escrito numerosos libros entre los que se encuentra el gran éxito de ventas “La música de los números primos”. Además es columnista y colaborador de varios programas de televisión y radio. Debe parte de su popularidad a la serie documental de la BBC “The Code”, en la que desentraña la historia, el uso y el significado de los números.​

Daniel Goleman explains why we should teach all children to practice and develop emotional intelligence. Goleman is a psychologist, scientific journalist and author of the book Emotional Intelligence, one of the longest-lived and most thoughtful bestsellers in recent years. Goleman has a PhD in Psychology from Harvard University, has written for the New York Times about human behavior and has received two nominations for the Pulitzer Prize. His publications have had a wide impact in fields such as educational psychology, education and personal development.

El psicólogo Alberto Soler responde ante dudas universales en la educación, el crecimiento personal y la crianza. Entre sus propuestas, destaca el concepto de la co-paternidad donde los hombres no “ayudan” en casa, sino que se responsabilizan, y donde la parentalidad consiste en reconocer y dar espacio para la educación de madres y padres, con sus diferencias y peculiaridades. Soler advierte también de los peligros de la enseñanza con “etiquetas” y de la obediencia ciega: el futuro de los niños pasa más por la educación en valores como la asertividad, el pensamiento crítico y la autonomía.

Alberto Soler es psicólogo y Máster en Psicología Clínica y de la Salud con más de 10 años de experiencia clínica y asesoramiento a padres. Soler es conferenciante y colaborador habitual en prensa, radio y televisión y coautor del libro “Hijos de padres felices” y del videoblog Píldoras de Psicología.

En este vídeo, Gregorio Luri reflexiona sobre el papel de los maestros y maestras en el contexto de la sociedad actual. También debate sobre algunas de las propuestas pedagógicas actuales y explica cuáles son las cualidades fundamentales que debe tener un buen maestro/a para enfrentarse a los desafíos educativos del siglo XXI. Según el filósofo y pedagogo “el maestro ha de ser capaz de dar forma a lo mejor que el alumno puede llegar a ser. Y hacérselo visible y apetecible a este alumno”.

“Maestro de escuela” es el atributo que mejor define a Gregorio Luri. Obtuvo el Premio Extraordinario en la Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación y también en el Doctorado en Filosofía. Ha trabajado como maestro de primaria, como profesor de filosofía en bachillerato y como docente universitario. Trabaja como columnista en varios diarios y ha publicado más de una veintena de libros sobre filosofía y educación.

Materials used:
• Oil paints - "Nevskaya palitra"
Colors: Burnt Umber, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red and Titanium White.
In addition I have a couple of colors that I use sometimes: Ivory Black, Celestial Blue and Cobalt Violet Deep.
• Primed 280gsm paper
• Paint thinner (odorless mineral spirits)
• Medium (stand linseed oil)
• Brushes - Detail brushes & Filbert synthetic brushes of different sizes
• Glass palette (homemade)
• Palette knife (from a local art-store)
• Paper towels (or tissues that I use to wipe the brushes)

I used primed 280gsm paper with linen texture for this piece, which is really on par with any other painting surface such as canvas, linen, wood, etc.

In order to understand where hearts came from, we have to go back to the earliest common ancestor of everything that has a heart. It took hundreds of millions of years, and countless different iterations of the same basic structure to lead to the heart that you have today.
