Jimmy Wales is recognized as the creator of the most important collaborative project in the world: Wikipedia. An online encyclopedia that is published in two hundred and eighty-eight languages and that has more than forty-six million articles. Among other awards, in 2015 she received the Princess of Asturias Award for international cooperation for her contribution to the promotion and dissemination of knowledge to humanity. Jimmy Wales is passionate about education, especially about the possibilities that informal learning currently offers for the education of people. Named the sixth most influential person in the world, Wales argues that in part thanks to technology, learning goes beyond college or university, and points to the need to continue learning throughout life.

“Me gustaría leeros un poema de Gabriel Celaya que se llama ‘Educar’. Todo lo que dice se podría aplicar perfectamente al mundo de la interpretación y del teatro. Dice así:
“Educar es lo mismo
que poner un motor a una barca…
hay que medir, pensar, equilibrar…
y poner todo en marcha.
Pero para eso,
uno tiene que llevar en el alma
un poco de marino…
un poco de pirata…
un poco de poeta…
y un kilo y medio de paciencia
concentrada.
Pero es consolador
soñar mientras uno trabaja,
que ese barco, ese niño
irá muy lejos por el agua.
Soñar que ese navío
llevará nuestra carga de palabras
hacia puertos distantes,
hacia islas lejanas.
Soñar que cuando un día
esté durmiendo nuestra propia barca,
en barcos nuevos seguirá
nuestra bandera enarbolada”.
Con este poema, el actor Carlos Hipólito introduce su visión sobre la importancia de la educación y del teatro en nuestra vida. El actor comparte en este vídeo sus recuerdos de infancia, sus trucos para afrontar personajes, aprendizajes, miedos e ilusiones detrás de un telón.
“La interpretación ayuda a que tu mundo emocional y todo tu sistema nervioso estén más abiertos, se relajen en muchos sentidos. Las armas que tenemos los actores para trabajar en un escenario son nuestra voz, nuestro cuerpo… pero son nuestros sentimientos los que ponemos al servicio del personaje”, explica el intérprete. Y añade: “El teatro debe de ser un espejo para la sociedad, donde el espectador se sienta identificado, se haga preguntas, encuentre respuestas y quizá su mundo emocional también se ponga en marcha”.
Carlos Hipólito inició su carrera como actor en 1976, aunque su amor por la interpretación surgió mucho antes, cuando de niño acudía con su madre al Teatro María Guerrero, y se enamoró de la magia creada detrás de un telón. Durante los últimos 40 años se ha convertido en uno de los grandes referentes del teatro, cine y televisión, con una sólida trayectoria reconocida con 12 galardones.

Carol Dweck is a lecturer in Psychology at Standford University and one of the main researchers and international referents in Education because of her pioneer ideas about mindset, motivation and development. Dweck is the creator of two concepts: fixed mindset, people who believe that intelligence is a born ability and it is unchangeable; and growth mindset, those who think that their skills can improve thanks to the instruction and effort.
In the following video, Dweck explains that it is of “vital importance that our children learn with a growth mindset in the current world where we need that children love challenges and uncertainty and that they do not feel overwhelmed”.
